Sophie played at my reception and I cannot say enough wonderful things. I wanted to make sure my wedding was unique and was classic in every aspect and having a harpist certainly created this feeling. She was so professional and had a large repertoire of pieces, I couldn’t have asked for more. I have had so many compliments following the day and would recommend her to anyone! – Megan, married April 2014
I have always loved weddings and it is a dream come true to build a career playing in them! Regardless of the type of ceremony, I would love to be a part of your wedding. I play all of the traditional wedding repertoire, but also take more popular requests – recently I played a solo harp version of “Africa” by Toto as a recessional! Other popular music selections that I have played for weddings include “A Thousand Years” and “Marry You.” I also enjoy playing cocktail hour or dinnertime background music for wedding receptions, anniversaries, engagement parties, galas, corporate parties, or any other special events. The mere physical presence of the harp adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. For those events I enjoy playing a mix of jazz standards, classical harp repertoire, Disney music, and some Latin music. During the school year (September-April) I am based in Pittsburgh, PA and during the summer and holidays I am based in San Diego, CA. Please contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org or (858) 243-3682) to schedule your event or see my WeddingWire page for more information. Enjoy preparing for your special day!
In my three years at Duquesne, I have already had many wonderful gigging opportunities in Pittsburgh. Highlights include playing at the Duquesne Club, Heinz Field, the Mansions on Fifth Sunday Brunch, and the historic Moreland-Hoffstot House (mansion) on Fifth Avenue. I have played for wedding ceremonies and receptions at the Hyatt hotel connected to the Pittsburgh airport, the Westin Convention Center hotel, E2 restaurant in Highland Park, and the Southpointe Golf Club. I particularly enjoy playing for wedding ceremonies at the Duquesne University Chapel of the Holy Spirit because it is a two minute walk from my apartment! I have been playing gigs in San Diego for the past seven years at various churches and country clubs, but most notably in a recent wedding at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park overlooking the beautiful Mombasa Lagoon. I am a practicing Catholic and therefore specialize in full Catholic mass ceremonies, but I enjoy playing for any type of ceremony. I am a parishoner at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in San Diego and the Duquesne University Chapel in Pittsburgh and have played for Christmas Eve Mass at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Santee, CA for the past six years. At Cathedral Catholic High School I took a two year practicum course training students to become Catholic music ministers. At Duquesne, I play weekly as part of the music ministry at the Duquesne University Chapel.
